My 2008 VW R32 Track Car

Some images of the 2020 guise of my R32 Track Build. A longtime motorsport enthusiast, I finally went all in with making my vehicle more track-focused, and have made a number of modifications to make it handle better, brake harder and be more safe to operate at speed. Combining my love for interdisciplinary design, engineering and motorsports, it has become a great source of inspiration and experimentation that informs the other work that I do. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to drive!

Home Studio Buildout

My wife and I are both designers, so the fact that we've never had a legitimate home studio in our 20+ years in the biz is vexing. With that in mind, we set out to correct the problem by building out a previously unused space off of our living room for use as a workspace. With an integrated cork wall for reviewing work, generous natural light and thoughtful configuration of our design equipment, we've created a space where we can collaborate, create and feel right at home, even when we're "at the office."

Landscape and Home Improvement Renders

Since I love doing photo renders and working on my home, I decided to combine the two on a planning project to see what the "Kemerley Compound" might look like with some structural and landscape improvements. The results are below, along with the before shots so you can get a sense of what's changed. Looks good, right? Now all I need to do is pick up my tools and viola! In just 2 short years, the place will look great ;)

My 1986 Fazer Restoration

Purchased back in 2007, this motorcycle has been an ongoing project ever since. Although it was a runner and in good shape for it's age, I'd always wanted to do a full restoration on something unique. Since the 700cc Yamaha Fazer was only sold in the US for two years. (1986 & 1987) with futuristic, love-it-or-hate-it styling, I reasoned it was a great candidate. Some 7 years on, the project is finally nearing completion, with the bulk of the work happening in the last 3 seasons (now that I have a garage where I can actually do it ;) These photos document the results so far. By layman's standards the restoration is nearly done, but I've got a bit of appearance work (polishing and painting) still to do. In spite of all the hours it has taken, it's rewarding to own a machine like this, since it never fails to elicit a thumbs-up from my fellow riders. In that regard, it's been a labor of love.
